Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to assist the Head of Engineering during a pivotal expansion phase of a digital startup scaling rapidly. This role involves leadership responsibilities, talent acquisition, and team growth, aimed at building the development team to 14 members by 2027.

Key Details

• The recruitment consists of a two-stage interview process.
• Ideal candidates should be within commuting distance to Hamburg.
• The working model is hybrid, blending office and remote work.
• Proficiency in English at C1 level or above is required; German language skills are an advantage.
• Compensation ranges from €90,000 to €115,000 annually, inclusive of base salary and performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the expansion and leadership of the engineering team alongside the Head of Engineering.
• Leading recruitment efforts to grow the team strategically.
• Maintaining strong collaborations with Product and other leadership stakeholders across the company.
• Overseeing project and portfolio management to align individual and team objectives.
• Applying change management and process improvement techniques.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years in dedicated leadership roles managing teams of 4 to 7 or more.
• Strong background in technical environments, with expertise in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience working on distributed systems is advantageous.
• Prior involvement with consumer-facing products serving millions of users is preferred.
