Our Values
We seek dedicated builders with entrepreneurial mindset who desire significant impact, rapid learning, and genuine ownership. Candidates should demonstrate strong role-relevant expertise, incisive problem-solving, and alignment with our mission and principles. We expect swift yet thoughtful decision-making, deep curiosity, and solutions based on first principles. Collaboration, humility, and end-to-end delivery are essential, as is the ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity.
Team Overview
The Issuing engineering team develops and maintains critical systems for card issuing, transaction processing, and settlements at scale. Responsibilities include:
- Card lifecycle management, control systems, and configuration for internal and customer-facing applications.
- A global transaction processing platform engineered for high volume, low latency, resilience, and availability.
- Settlement processes including clearance, dispute resolution, and compliance with financial schemes.
Position Summary
As an Engineering Manager for the Issuing Platform, you will oversee one or more teams responsible for essential components of the issuing infrastructure. This role blends leadership of people, technical guidance, and management of delivery outcomes. You will foster team health and performance while maintaining high-level architectural insight, focusing on enabling your teams rather than direct individual contribution. This position is based in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams through continuous performance feedback, coaching, and career planning.
- Cultivate a culture centered on ownership, quality, and ongoing improvement.
- Recruit and onboard new members effectively to support sustainable team growth.
- Provide architectural oversight and technical strategy for large-scale transaction processing platforms.
- Collaborate with senior and staff engineers to design scalable, resilient architectures.
- Enforce rigorous standards in system design, code quality, testing, and operational practices.
- Steer platform evolution to minimize operational costs and enhance developer productivity.
- Lead initiatives to improve reliability, observability, security, and cost effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with product, operations, and engineering leadership to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Assess emerging technologies and architectural patterns, balancing innovation with stability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years in professional software engineering, including at least 2 years managing engineering teams directly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Expertise in backend development using modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
- Proven track record designing and running large-scale distributed production systems.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and object-oriented design.
- Practical experience with event-driven and streaming architectures, for example Apache Kafka.
- Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs at scale.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP (preferred) or AWS, including container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of observability and operational tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor technical teams and lead strategy execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in fintech, payments, or regulated financial sectors.
- Extensive experience with JVM-based technologies like Java or Kotlin using Spring or Spring Boot frameworks.
- Experience leading teams working on highly available, low-latency systems.
