Overview
This role involves leading software engineering teams in developing innovative advertising solutions within Google Ads. The teams contribute to powering the open internet by creating valuable experiences for users, publishers, advertisers, and Google. The focus area is on App and Display Campaigns that drive business for Google Ads and empower millions of advertisers globally.
Role Responsibilities
- Guide and develop engineering talent by mentoring and coaching team members.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, and fellow engineering managers to convert wide-ranging product objectives into precise engineering tasks and ensure their effective delivery.
- Engage with customers directly to comprehend their challenges, design tailored solutions, and lead implementation efforts.
- Manage a clear project portfolio aligned with team strengths and business goals.
- Take full ownership of existing products within the team’s domain, maintain consistent business value, handle customer issues, propose improvements, and adapt systems for long-term success.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
- Minimum 8 years of software development experience with at least 3 years in technical leadership and 2 years in team or people management roles.
- Proficient in full stack development with back-end expertise in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++, and front-end proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or alternatives.
- Experience releasing production features is preferred.
- Familiar with two or more areas like web application development, Unix/Linux systems, mobile app development, distributed/parallel systems, or large-scale software engineering.
- Skilled at partnering with product managers to translate strategic goals into executable plans.
- Able to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams to create shared designs and scalable platforms.
