Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Algorithms team, responsible for developing and managing the core pricing and forecasting engine that powers our product. This team’s work, including pricing algorithms, forecasting models, and data pipelines, influences thousands of hotels’ room pricing worldwide. Your leadership focus will be on people management, delivery quality, and alignment with product objectives. You will remain technically involved through design and code reviews and provide hands-on support when necessary, balancing fast delivery with long-term technical excellence and fostering an environment of trust and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of four engineers covering pricing algorithms, forecasting, and data pipelines, ensuring delivery quality and system reliability.
• Support and develop team members through regular one-on-ones, feedback, performance reviews, and career growth initiatives.
• Oversee hiring and onboarding processes to maintain a balanced, capable team.
• Collaborate closely with Product management; provide constructive feedback and shape not only development processes but also product direction.
• Convert business objectives into detailed engineering strategies with measurable goals and achievable timelines, utilizing data for prioritization.
• Maintain a healthy balance between speed of delivery and technical sustainability, addressing technical debt and scalability.
• Deliver technical oversight via design and code reviews, staying engaged with architectural decisions and quality control.
• Act as a buffer shielding your team from external pressures to maintain focus and positive team dynamics.
• Enhance engineering methodologies and processes to improve alignment, clarity, and reliable deliveries.
• Drive departmental technical advancements and operational excellence beyond your team in a hands-on capacity.

Required Qualifications

• Substantial software engineering experience with proven competence in developing and operating production backend and data-intensive or algorithmic systems.
• Minimum 5 years in engineering roles including leadership, with significant exposure to managing engineers and conducting performance management.
• Experience in managing other managers or team leads is considered advantageous.
• Product-oriented mindset with the confidence and ability to challenge product decisions to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Technical credibility enabling hands-on contributions as needed without daily coding responsibilities.
• Familiarity with backend stack using Python/Django and data tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster; knowledge in forecasting, modeling, or data engineering is highly beneficial.
• Strong understanding of system design, software architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities that foster clarity, trust, accountability, and servant leadership.
• Desire to lead and inspire technical improvements across the broader Product and Engineering organization.
• Fluency in English and residence within European time zones (UTC+0 to UTC+2).

Compensation for this role ranges from €100,000 to €110,000 annually.
