Overview
Join Honeywell Technologies as a Software Engineering Manager based in Sydney, NSW, to lead the development of state-of-the-art building automation and digital surveillance software on Microsoft platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, build, and maintain software engineering teams delivering world-class products.
- Mentor engineers and ensure adherence to high-quality standards and best practices.
- Develop engineering strategies aligned with business growth and client needs.
- Define and drive the technical vision and product roadmaps across multiple teams.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure project success and smooth execution.
- Provide hands-on leadership in architecture design, code quality, and technical guidance.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to boost efficiency and delivery.
- Serve as escalation lead for production or customer issues, overseeing timely resolution and risk management.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and align with product managers to balance business, technical, and operation goals.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive software engineering background of 10 to 17 years.
- At least 5 years managing software engineering teams, ideally size 10-15 engineers.
- Proven track record progressing from software engineer to leadership, managing complex, large-scale software products.
- Experience in full product lifecycle management, from planning through production and support.
- Expertise in leading cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, product management, and Scrum.
- Strong foundation in web application development and software product delivery.
- Technical expertise in software architecture and design for both Windows and web applications.
- Proficiency with .NET development, cloud technologies, microservices, containerization, and modern software architectures.
- Experience within modern, product-focused software development environments.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and people management skills to foster motivated and high-performing teams.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) including Access Control, Fire, HVAC, and Video solutions.
- Understanding of projects and services business models specific to building domain.
- Experience with integrated third-party systems in BMS platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Experience in modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
