Role Overview
The Engineering Assistant role focuses on supporting the maintenance and enhancement of warehouse facilities and equipment throughout Foodstuffs North Island's distribution centres. This position involves completing scheduled upkeep and minor repairs, maintaining infrastructure and assets, coordinating with contractors on engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with safety and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repair work on warehouse machinery, facilities, and infrastructure.
- Manage upkeep of buildings and site assets such as signage, safety barriers, racking systems, lockers, and warehouse fittings.
- Coordinate contractor activities and assist in delivering maintenance and engineering projects at the distribution hubs.
- Ensure that all maintenance operations comply with relevant safety protocols, regulations, and proper documentation practices.
- Spot opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, reduce operational expenses, and improve efficiency within the warehouse environment.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably holds at least three years of experience in maintenance within facilities, factories, plants, or distribution warehouses.
- Proficient in the technical maintenance of warehouse equipment, including material handling equipment (MHE), batteries, chargers, and competent in the safe use of hand and power tools; welding and lathe skills are considered advantageous.
- Basic proficiency with computer applications, notably Microsoft Office and MEX maintenance software.
- Possesses valid licenses for car driving, forklift operation, and elevated work platforms.
- Strong organizational abilities to juggle multiple priorities, plan tasks effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Adopts a flexible, solutions-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
- Willing to accommodate flexible working hours occasionally, reflecting the round-the-clock nature of Foodstuffs operations.
