Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Retail Operations Analyst who excels at tackling intricate operational challenges by turning extensive data into actionable business intelligence. This role involves being a critical advisor to senior leaders, retail banner teams, and store owners by providing insights that boost store performance, labour productivity, cost effectiveness, and overall execution within the retail network. Although there is no direct team leadership, you will influence peers and mentor analysts, setting high standards for analytical quality and commercial awareness.

Daily work involves a balance between strategic analytics and responding to emerging operational concerns, collaborating with diverse teams including Retail Optimisation, Workforce & Analytics, Demand Planning, Replenishment, Learning & Enablement, and Programme management.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive complex analytics projects from defining problems to delivering insights, recommendations, and supporting implementation.
• Provide actionable operational data insights aimed at improving performance, labour efficiency, and operational standards across retail outlets.
• Serve as a trusted consultant to senior leadership, translating complex datasets into accessible and commercially valuable guidance.
• Support retail stores through targeted data analysis and insightful recommendations to enhance performance outcomes.
• Mentor and coach analytics team members to raise collective capabilities and analytic standards.
• Help develop advanced reporting tools, analytical frameworks, and centralized services supporting member stores.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines commercial acumen, analytical prowess, and operational understanding gained from extensive experience within complex retail, grocery, or large operational environments. You must be curious with data, capable of converting analytics into practical, outcome-driven recommendations.

Comfortable influencing decisions with evidence-based analysis, you will build and maintain robust relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from operational teams to senior executives, while challenging ideas constructively for optimal results.

Technically proficient with advanced skills in Power BI, Power Query, DAX, SQL, BigQuery, and Excel, you have a track record of leading major analytic projects and transforming large datasets into business insights. You navigate ambiguity well and focus pragmatically on delivering measurable value.
