Engineer - Risk Management

Job Overview

As a Risk Management Engineer, you will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies to manage risks associated with infrastructure projects, ensuring their successful completion. You will collaborate closely with project teams to pinpoint potential risks, assess their severity, and devise measures to mitigate them. Your expertise will be crucial in avoiding delays, budget overruns, and other negative project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed risk assessments identifying possible hazards, their probability, and potential impacts on infrastructure projects.
• Create and continuously update a comprehensive risk register to track and prioritize risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and execute risk management plans, including establishing contingency and mitigation strategies.
• Monitor project progress to identify emerging risks, taking proactive steps to mitigate them.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to embed effective risk management into planning and execution.
• Carry out regular reviews of risk status and present reports to senior leadership outlining critical risks and recommended actions.
• Keep abreast of best practices and innovations in risk management, integrating new approaches into organizational processes.
• Provide training and guidance on risk management to project teams to foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive handling.
• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure risk management aligns with quality standards and requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in risk management, preferably within infrastructure or construction sectors.
• Solid understanding of risk assessment methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative analyses.
• Proven track record in creating and implementing risk management plans and response strategies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify complex risks and formulate practical solutions.
• Proficiency with risk management software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Risk Register platforms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Capability to work autonomously and handle multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely risk management deliverables.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations like ISO 31000 concerning risk management.
• Willingness to undertake travel to project locations when necessary.
