Engineer I

Position Overview

This role involves responding promptly to guest repair requests and working directly with guests to resolve maintenance concerns. The engineer conducts preventive maintenance on kitchen tools, mechanical equipment, and various building utilities while ensuring cleanliness and lubrication of equipment. Visual inspections and operation of shut-off valves for equipment and utilities are part of daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle guest repair requests and provide timely resolution.
• Maintain tools and equipment including preventive cleaning and lubrication.
• Perform visual inspections and operate utility shut-offs and valves.
• Manage maintenance inventory and requisition parts as needed.
• Communicate daily work and issues to other shifts via approved methods.
• Possess or develop knowledge in areas such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, and general building upkeep.
• Carry out painting, drywall, wood trim repairs, light bulb and A/C filter replacements, and thorough area cleanups.
• Test and troubleshoot equipment including plumbing fixes (toilet plunging, unclogging drains), electrical components, and guestroom items.
• Program televisions and perform housekeeping and inventory control duties related to engineering.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures before maintenance tasks.
• Maintain internal and external landscaping and sprinkler repairs.
• Utilize basic computer skills for air handler scheduling and temperature adjustments.
• Adhere strictly to company safety and security policies; report hazards and incidents and complete required safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and company asset protection.
• Provide courteous guest service, including assistance to individuals with disabilities, and follow company standards for guest interactions.
• Support teamwork, communicate effectively, and respond to colleagues professionally.
• Physical duties include lifting objects up to 50 pounds independently, team lifts for heavier items, stair and ladder use, and physical movements like bending and stooping.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Experience preferred in general maintenance and surface preparation/painting.
• Prior experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Valid driver's license required.
