Assistant Manager - Housekeeping

About the Role

This entry-level management role is focused on supporting daily operations across Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry departments, where applicable. The position collaborates with staff to ensure cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms and public spaces, conducts inspections, and enforces corrective measures when needed. It also plays a key role in maintaining guest and employee satisfaction while managing the department's budget efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Stay updated on OSHA regulations affecting workplace safety.
• Manage lost and found procedures thoroughly.
• Coordinate housekeeping work assignments by obtaining lists of rooms requiring immediate cleaning and expected check-outs or discharges.
• Maintain inventory to ensure sufficient housekeeping supplies are available.
• Communicate guest room statuses promptly to the Front Desk.
• Collaborate with the Engineering department regarding guest room maintenance issues.
• Adhere to established loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Ensure employees have necessary supplies, equipment, and appropriate uniforms.
• Support and oversee a comprehensive inspection program for guestrooms and public areas.
• Manage linen and guest supplies inventory, assisting in stock ordering when needed.
• Supervise housekeeping operations in the absence of senior management.
• Monitor employee service behaviors, provide constructive feedback, and foster continuous performance improvement.
• Address guest complaints or problems, escalating to supervisors as required.
• Assist in reviewing guest feedback, comment cards, and satisfaction metrics with team members.
• Set positive examples in guest relations through exemplary service behavior.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED along with at least 1 year of experience in housekeeping or a related professional field;
• OR hold a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with no prior work experience necessary.
