Our mission is to increase Ireland's renewable heating share, currently among the lowest in Europe at roughly 5%. District heating is a proven, cost-effective low-carbon heating solution prevalent in leading European nations, many achieving around 50% coverage, unlike Ireland’s current sub-1% share. HeatGrid Ireland aims to expedite the scale-up of district heating networks nationwide, contributing substantially to urban decarbonization.

Role Purpose

The Energy Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting district heating network projects through technical evaluation, design, customer collaboration, funding initiatives, and construction oversight by assessing potential locations and buildings and leading specialized analysis and study efforts in partnership with internal teams and external experts.

Key Duties

• Overseeing management of HeatGrid’s Geographical Information System (GIS), maintaining technical and customer-related project data.
• Collaboratively designing energy centers, heat networks, and building connections for district heating projects alongside internal teams and external specialists.
• Leading the preparation and submission of grant applications in coordination with key stakeholders such as SEAI, DECC, and DPER.
• Contributing to national district heating policy development through engagement with the Irish District Heating Association and other relevant bodies.
• Meeting project development milestones set by senior management.
• Building and sustaining relationships with customers, accurately reporting project progress to management.
• Participating in seminars, trade exhibitions, and other promotional opportunities.
• Creating and delivering presentations, proposals, reports, and analytical documents as required.
• Supporting the CEO with strategic organizational initiatives.
• Flexibly assisting in other company functions such as development, design, and internal operations when needed.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline.
• Proficient in Geographic Information System (GIS) software, particularly ArcGIS.
• Minimum of three years' experience in district heating, renewable heat, or related industries.
• A strong passion for driving Ireland's transition to a low-carbon energy future.
• Demonstrated team player with a proactive attitude in critical situations.
• Capacity to inspire, empower, and work collaboratively fostering a culture of ownership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability in stakeholder relationship management.
• Professional demeanor characterized by innovation and customer focus.

• Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills concerning energy technologies, markets, and sectors.
