Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an Employability Officer based in Cardiff and Barry to join a well-established employment and skills organization. This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary between £25,000 and £27,000 per annum with standard Monday to Friday working hours, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (35 hours weekly). The purpose of this role is to foster strong employer relationships that create lasting job opportunities and quality work placements for young people and unemployed adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and securing sustainable employment and work placement opportunities across Cardiff and Barry.
- Developing new business relationships and refining employer networks within the local communities.
- Understanding specific recruitment demands of employers and effectively matching suitable participants with available vacancies.
- Ensuring quality and compliance through completion of health and safety appraisals and risk assessments for placements.
- Collecting evidence related to job starts and supporting participants in overcoming barriers to maintain employment.
- Monitoring local labour market patterns and representing the organization at relevant career and marketing events.
Candidate Profile
- Experience engaging with young people and unemployed adults to support their employment journey.
- Proven track record in sourcing and securing sustainable jobs or work placements.
- Strong skills in business development, relationship management, communication, negotiation, and networking.
- Ability to manage workload effectively across multiple locations (Cardiff and Barry).
- Confidence to act as a public representative of the organization at various events.
- Commitment to completing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check funded by the employer and registering with the Education Workforce Council.
