Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an Employability Officer to foster employer partnerships and create meaningful job and placement opportunities for young people and unemployed adults in Blackwood, Cwmbran, and Newport. This permanent, full-time role offers a chance to combine business development experience with positive social impact by connecting participants with sustainable employment options.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sustainable employment and placement opportunities across South East Wales.
- Initiate and maintain new employer relationships through active outreach and business development.
- Understand local recruitment demands and link suitable candidates to available roles.
- Match participants with relevant vacancies and ensure their placements build skills and confidence.
- Conduct workplace health and safety evaluations and risk assessments to ensure compliance.
- Gather necessary documentation confirming job starts for reporting and verification.
- Support participants in overcoming challenges to sustain employment.
- Monitor regional labor market trends and represent the organisation at career, marketing, and employer-related events.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience engaging with unemployed adults and youth to facilitate jobs or placements.
- Demonstrated success in securing sustainable employment opportunities and establishing employer partnerships.
- Strong skills in customer service, relationship management, communication, negotiation, and networking.
- Confident representing an organisation externally at various events.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities across the coverage area.
- Willingness to undergo employer-funded DBS check and register with the Education Workforce Council.
Employment Details and Benefits
- Salary range between £25,000 and £27,000 per year.
- Permanent, full-time position with 35 working hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
