Role Overview
The Emergency Response Officer, based full-time at our Port Moresby site, plays a critical role in overseeing safety conditions and managing emergency situations throughout the facility. Key duties include regular safety and security patrols, maintenance of emergency equipment, and implementation of fire safety protocols. This role involves actively supporting emergency preparedness, conducting drills, providing safety training, assisting in investigations, and reporting incidents. Collaboration with internal departments and external emergency agencies ensures a safe workspace and compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in emergency services and incident response, particularly within industrial or similar operational settings.
- Strong expertise in physical security operations, including site surveillance and access control management.
- Hands-on knowledge of firefighting and fire prevention, along with proficiency in maintaining fire safety equipment.
- Competence in delivering training programs focused on safety protocols, emergency response, and incident readiness.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in emergency management, firefighting, security, or occupational health and safety disciplines.
- The ability to remain composed under stressful conditions, make responsible decisions swiftly, and communicate effectively during emergencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills facilitating teamwork across diverse groups.
- Physical capability suited to emergency response tasks, with flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays if needed.
- Familiarity with current safety standards, emergency response procedures, and regulatory criteria is advantageous.
