Job Overview

As an Eligibility Officer, you will evaluate psychological injury claims according to New South Wales Workers Compensation law and scheme criteria. This role demands timely, fair, and evidence-based determinations regarding claim eligibility and entitlement while providing compassionate support to injured workers through trauma-informed communication methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess psychological injury claims following NSW Workers Compensation legislation and scheme obligations.
  • Issue prompt, equitable eligibility and entitlement decisions based on evidence.
  • Support injured individuals empathetically and professionally with respectful communication sensitive to trauma.
  • Collect and analyze medical, employment, and factual data to inform sound decision-making.
  • Collaborate with employers, insurers, healthcare providers, legal representatives, and other stakeholders involved with icare.
  • Clearly and confidently communicate complex legislative decisions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Apply and update knowledge with evolving psychological injury legislation relevant to claims handling.
  • Escalate sensitive or complicated issues appropriately while ensuring thorough documentation and maintaining high-quality file standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in Workers Compensation, personal injury claims, or customer service in related fields.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders clearly, confidently, and empathetically.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability with keen attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Capability to adapt and remain resilient in a dynamic work environment.
