About the Role

We are seeking a proficient Electrician based in Bristol to join Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services. This role involves delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive tasks, and remedial electrical work across various client sites. The position requires a commitment to maintaining safe, effective, and reliable electrical and building services, while also providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance, react promptly to maintenance needs, and perform remedial electrical tasks using electronic maintenance management tools and handheld devices.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, testing, and inspections of electrical systems and related equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Diagnose electrical faults accurately and repair with safety and efficiency in mind.
• Provide support for maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment to maximise operational reliability.
• Offer technical expertise during projects, improvements, and operational activities.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and resolve issues.
• Keep thorough digital records, reports, registers, and certificates related to maintenance activities.
• Conduct inspections and maintenance within challenging environments, including confined spaces and elevated locations.
• Assist with winter maintenance arrangements such as gritting and snow clearing when needed.
• Accept official roles as a Competent Person when designated.
• Contribute actively to business continuity, sustainability, and social value projects within the contract.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in electrical maintenance within facilities management, building services, or commercial sectors.
• Strong skills in electrical fault identification and problem resolution.
• Ability to prioritise work efficiently to meet set service levels and response deadlines.
• Demonstrates safe and meticulous workmanship.
• Effective communication with clients, colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Committed to excellent customer service delivery.
• Capable of both independent work and collaborating within engineering teams.
• Comfortable utilising handheld technology and electronic management systems for maintenance.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering maintenance discipline.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance (Multi-Discipline) or recognised equivalent.
• Electrical Inspection and Testing qualification.
• Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) experience or certification.
• Experience in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical equipment.
• Capability to support basic mechanical maintenance alongside electrical duties.
• Current knowledge of electrical standards and best practices.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe work practices.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience within facilities management, critical environments, or complex commercial buildings.
• Authorisations as a Competent Person or other industry-recognised electrical accreditations.
• Familiarity with CAFM and electronic maintenance management systems.
• Understanding of sustainability and energy efficiency principles.
• Experience supporting business continuity and critical infrastructure operations.
