Electrical Technician

Position Overview

Seeking an Electrical Technician to conduct comprehensive maintenance and troubleshooting activities on a variety of electrical systems and equipment within an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical devices and infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair motors, pumps, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems (both low and medium voltage).
• Maintain PLC and SCADA electrical parts, including inspection and testing of electrical panels, breakers, relays, and control circuits.
• Participate in plant startups, shutdowns, and commissioning operations.
• Monitor electrical performance of the plant to detect and prevent potential failures.
• Interpret and work from electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and single-line diagrams.
• Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures.
• Collaborate closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to reduce downtime.
• Keep thorough maintenance records, reporting, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Provide support for emergency breakdown maintenance during shift work.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, ITI certificate, or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• Industrial electrical maintenance experience ranging between 3 to 5 years.
• Preferred background working in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plants.
• Technical knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, VFDs, MCCs, low and medium voltage electrical systems, and electrical safety regulations.

Essential Skills

• Proficient hands-on preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of medium and low voltage switchgear and VFDs.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work with complex electrical control schematics.
• Experience with UPS systems and insulation resistance testing instruments.
• Understanding of MV and LV switchgear protection relays and practical applications.
• Working knowledge of power transformers and related equipment.
• Competence in circuit breaker operations including electrical isolation and re-connection procedures.
