Electrical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer to join our Projects & Execution team focused on electrical infrastructure and power distribution projects. The ideal candidate will manage planning, execution, supervision, estimation, documentation, and tender-related activities within electrical projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute electrical projects aligned with approved plans, specifications, BOQs, work orders, and standards.
• Collaborate closely with WBSEDCL officials, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and onsite teams for seamless project delivery.
• Apply practical expertise in WBSEDCL project procedures and electrical systems.
• Track project progress, ensuring quality, safety, materials, manpower, and schedules meet requirements.
• Create and validate BOQs, quantity surveys, material needs, cost estimates, and rate analyses.
• Manage electrical installations pertaining to 11 KV, 33 KV distribution networks, transformers, cables, substations, feeders, poles, AB cables, earthing, and related infrastructure.
• Interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLD), electrical and layout drawings, cable schedules, and specifications.
• Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on site.
• Coordinate procurement and inventory functions to ensure timely material availability.
• Maintain detailed project documentation including measurement sheets, progress reports, material reconciliations, and testing logs.
• Ensure adherence to approved specifications, safety protocols, and legal requirements.

Tendering and Commercial Duties

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of electrical tendering, bidding, and contract management.
• Review tender documentation such as NITs, BOQs, technical specifications, eligibility, and contractual terms.
• Support preparation and submission of technical and commercial bids.
• Prepare BOQs, estimates, cost sheets, rate analysis, and comparative statements for tenders.
• Analyze purchase orders, contracts, amendments, and project specifications.
• Communicate with management and project teams for clarification and document submission.
• Familiarity with e-tendering platforms, EMD, bank guarantees, security deposits, and other tender stipulations is advantageous.
• Assist in preparation of running account bills, final bills, variation statements, extra-item statements, and supporting documentation.

Housing and Building Project Expertise

• In-depth understanding of electrical work in housing/residential projects.
• Experience with electrical wiring, distribution systems, LT panels, DBs, metering, and internal/external electrification.
• Knowledge of transformers, DG sets, cable laying and terminations, earthing, lightning protection, and common-area electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate with civil, plumbing, HVAC, and other teams for smooth project integration.
• Inspect, test, commission, and hand over electrical installations efficiently.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong foundation in electrical engineering concepts and practical site execution capabilities.
• Experience with WBSEDCL projects and familiarity with 33 KV / 11 KV / LT electrical distribution systems.
• Competency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, SLDs, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in tender preparation, estimation, costing, and bidding procedures.
• Fluency in MS Excel, MS Word, AutoCAD, and relevant engineering software.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and team management skills.
• Capability to lead contractors, labor forces, and vendors effectively.
• Preparedness to travel to project sites as necessary.

Educational Criteria

The candidate must hold a B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Relevant experience in electrical contracting, EPC, power distribution, housing, or infrastructure projects will be advantageous.

• Experience with WBSEDCL projects and power distribution schemes.
• Work involvement in 33 KV / 11 KV / LT electrical tasks.
• Hands-on knowledge of housing and residential project electrical works.
• Exposure to electrical EPC projects and government/PSU tender processes.
• Proficiency in tendering, estimation, project supervision, electrical testing, commissioning, billing, measurements, and documentation.
