Electrical Department Manager

Overview

The Electrical Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering activities within the department, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality standards in the oil, gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Principal Electrical Engineer to ensure accurate execution of project designs and lead the coordination of Lead Engineers' activities.
• Prepare and scrutinize electrical engineering studies, design documentation, as well as material and equipment specifications.
• Address and resolve specialized electrical engineering challenges by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
• Define the scope of work for projects or proposals and set project objectives and priorities.
• Plan and expedite departmental work schedules to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Develop organizational procedures, methods, and control systems to streamline operations.
• Ensure strict adherence to quality and safety protocols throughout all activities.
• Coordinate efforts with other departments and clients to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Identify the need for investigative research and implement solutions accordingly.
• Engage in long-term planning to support the department's strategic goals.

Leadership and Management

• Make staffing decisions and foster a culture of employee training and professional development.
• Propose and manage the department’s budget while contributing to the preparation of the overarching unit budget.
• Oversee quality management practices and help develop departmental procedures.
• Recommend salary adjustments and participate in performance evaluation processes.
• Authorize timesheets to maintain accurate attendance and capacity records.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required, with registration as a professional engineer and at least 25 years of significant experience.
• A Master’s Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated expertise in electrical engineering within large to mega projects, particularly in oil and gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure industries.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, economic factors, protection calculations, design techniques, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications is essential.
