Job description
Position Overview
We seek a proficient Electrical Automation Engineer experienced in the design, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial automation and electrical control systems. The role involves hands-on involvement with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, control panels, industrial communication protocols, and interpreting electrical schematics.
Primary Duties
- Design and develop electrical control and automation frameworks.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, I/O lists, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, and VFD control systems.
- Manage machine installation, commissioning, testing, and ensure site acceptance criteria are met.
- Dynamically resolve electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and automation anomalies.
- Configure and maintain industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus/Profinet.
- Choose and integrate components like sensors, relays, contactors, motors, drives, PLCs, and related automation equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with mechanical, production, maintenance, and project teams.
- Adhere to electrical safety guidelines and regulatory engineering standards to maintain compliant operations.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including manuals and commissioning reports.
- Deliver technical assistance for existing automation infrastructure and drive continuous system improvements.
Professional Requirements
- Robust understanding of industrial automation and electrical control mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming; ideally Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Schneider.
- Competence in HMI/SCADA operation.
- In-depth knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, motor control centers (MCCs), power control centers (PCCs), control panels, and motor control systems.
- Capability to read, interpret, and update electrical drawings.
- Awareness of industrial sensor technologies and field devices.
- Familiarity with PLC network setups and relevant industrial communication standards.
- Effective troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design software is preferred.
Educational and Experience Criteria
An academic background with a Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering is required. Ideally, candidates will have 2 to 5 years of professional experience involving machine automation, manufacturing plants, process automation, or industrial automation projects and on-site PLC/HMI commissioning troubleshooting. The role demands readiness for travel to client or project sites as necessary.
