Job description
Overview
The EHS Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures at construction sites. This role primarily focuses on maintaining safety compliance, conducting training, and overseeing several safety measures within residential and commercial construction projects.
Key Duties
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS regulations across construction, operation, and maintenance activities at assigned projects.
- Conduct daily safety inspections to promote safe working practices.
- Manage the proper disposal and storage of hazardous waste materials.
- Maintain and ensure readiness of personal protective equipment (PPE) and firefighting apparatus.
- Keep Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) up to date for all raw materials and finished products used on site.
- Provide training and awareness programs for employees and contractors covering EHS regulations, handling hazardous chemicals, use of PPE, and firefighting techniques.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to handle emergencies effectively.
- Issue safety alerts to the project management office highlighting any unsafe acts or conditions observed at the site.
- Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports on a regular basis.
- Create site-specific training modules and conduct on-site sessions for staff and laborers.
- Carry out routine audits of construction areas, labor camps, and stores to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Monitor the health and safety conditions of labor camps regularly.
- Enforce complete compliance with guidelines regarding PPE usage, signage, hoardings, and other safety displays throughout project locations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full-time graduation or HSC with diploma, accompanied by 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Possession of Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety, Diploma in Fire & Safety, PG Program in HSE Management, NEBOSH General Certificate, or M.Tech in Safety is mandatory.
- Prior experience in the Real Estate, Infrastructure sector, or within large construction companies is preferred.
