EHS Officer

Role Overview

The EHS Officer will oversee the implementation and enforcement of Environmental, Health, and Safety policies at a construction project site. This position involves daily supervision of safety practices to ensure compliance, hazard identification, and execution of corrective actions. The role supports the cultivation of a strong safety culture, contributes to business growth through safety excellence, and facilitates ongoing improvements in EHS procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement EHS policies and procedures on-site effectively.
• Perform daily safety inspections and monitor adherence to safety standards.
• Identify risks and ensure corrective measures are promptly instituted.
• Promote a proactive safety culture aligned with organizational objectives to enhance project outcomes.
• Lead safety initiatives and continuous improvements in EHS practices at the project level.
• Coordinate with supervisors and workers to maintain compliance with safety protocols.
• Communicate safety requirements and corrective measures clearly to the project team.
• Assist the EHS Manager with incident reporting and resolution tasks.
• Deliver EHS orientation and training to staff, contractors, and visitors.
• Increase workforce awareness of safety guidelines, acting as a safety role model and promoting teamwork.
• Mentor junior EHS personnel and contractors regarding site-specific safety needs.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns regularly.
• Support investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up actions.
• Monitor and verify proper use of personal protective equipment and safe work methods.
• Maintain comprehensive EHS documentation including checklists, permits, and records.
