About the Role
The Central and Northern Region Command within the Custodial Operations Division manages custodial services throughout Queensland, overseeing inmates in both high and low security correctional facilities. The Education Officer is responsible for creating, organizing, and delivering educational and vocational training programs tailored to the inmate population at the correctional center.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute education and training initiatives that provide inmates with vocational and academic opportunities suited to their individual needs.
- Supervise and coordinate external staff involved in the centre's educational programs.
- Engage with training providers and community organizations to ensure comprehensive educational services are available.
- Evaluate inmates' educational levels, counsel them on available opportunities within the facility and in the community.
- Support sentence planning, case management, and the assessment process for community-based options.
- Advise the Manager Offender Development on various matters related to educational programming.
- Maintain a safe workplace by adhering to health and safety protocols and preventing risk exposure to colleagues, contractors, and visitors.
