Job description
Role Overview
This position involves programming and operating Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and Wire EDM (WEDM) equipment with precision and efficiency. Candidates will be expected to craft and refine cutting programs using CAD/CAM tools, prepare machines appropriately, monitor quality standards, and maintain equipment for optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimize cutting programs using CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD and specialized macro applications.
- Interpret technical engineering drawings, including blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) details.
- Configure WEDM machines by threading wire and calibrating cutting parameters like voltage, speed, and tension to suit various metal types.
- Choose appropriate wire type and size for specific machining tasks.
- Perform dimensional inspections on finished components employing precision measuring instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Ensure produced parts meet precise dimensional criteria and exhibit smooth surface finishes.
- Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance on machines and rapidly troubleshoot issues such as wire breaks or minor operational faults.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience programming and operating CNC Wire EDM machines.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design and manufacturing software including CREO, Fikus, and AutoCAD for designing and generating cutting paths.
- Practical knowledge of Super Drilling Machines is essential.
