Job Purpose

The Retail Associate’s role is central to delivering a positive customer shopping experience. This position involves greeting customers warmly, maintaining store cleanliness and merchandise presentation, supporting operations across all store departments, and upholding safety and brand standards while interacting respectfully with customers and fellow team members.

Primary Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to safety practices to ensure a secure environment for customers and coworkers.
• Maintain vigilant awareness on the sales floor to swiftly address any hazards and ensure clear access to emergency exits.
• Provide courteous, friendly customer service including assistance with merchandise and operating the register.
• Promptly address customer inquiries and issues, escalating to store leadership when necessary.
• Ensure the store appearance is neat and organized through routine cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and restocking restroom supplies.
• Follow company guidelines for merchandise handling, recovery, and presentation to meet sales floor standards.
• Understand and comply with loss prevention policies and procedures to safeguard merchandise and sensitive information.
• Manage cash, card, and refund transactions accurately following prescribed company protocols.
• Exhibit professionalism by adhering to dress code and representing the Ross brand positively at all times.
• Execute assigned duties efficiently with a sense of urgency to maximize productivity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership in a respectful and positive manner.
• Basic math skills suitable for retail transactional tasks.
• Physical capability to stand, walk extensively, and perform repetitive movements including bending, kneeling, lifting over 20-25 pounds, and using store equipment such as registers, PDTs, ladders, and janitorial tools.
• Willingness to perform tasks across all store areas as business demands.
