Position Purpose

The Draughtsman specializing in EPLAN/ELCAD will prepare precise electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical documents to support engineering and project teams. This role ensures that drawings are accurate, updated, coordinated, and compliant with applicable standards for manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Create General Arrangement (GA), layout, and assembly drawings for control and protection panels including cubicles and sub-assemblies.
• Develop detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal, mounting plates, sub-panels, and busbar systems with full dimensional and tolerance details.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, termination drawings, and panel layouts using EPLAN software based on engineering inputs.
• Maintain device tagging, cable schedules, terminal diagrams, and Bills of Materials.
• Ensure compliance of all drawings with company standards, client requirements, and industry codes such as IEC and NFPA.
• Update drawings reflecting engineering revisions, site feedback, and as-built conditions while managing version control.
• Work closely with designers, project managers, and production teams to convert concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Optimize layouts for accessibility, maintenance, and thermal efficiency of components and panels.
• Participate in design reviews and integrate feedback into finalized drawings.
• Manage drawing registers, document control, CAD libraries, and project paperwork following company protocols.
• Provide technical support and clarifications to workshop and site personnel during manufacturing and installation phases.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards consistently.
• Contribute toward standardizing and continuously improving electrical design templates and EPLAN libraries.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Educational background: Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds, HNC/HND) with comparable experience accepted.
• A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in drafting for control panels, switchgear, enclosure fabrication, or similar heavy electrical manufacturing settings.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools, specifically AutoCAD, EPLAN, and ELCAD.
  • Strong ability to create detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Basic familiarity with electrical components and their mechanical mounting needs.
  • Experience with control panel assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and standard electrical enclosures.
