Position Overview

Medirest is seeking dedicated Domestic Assistants to join our team in Cambridge, playing a crucial role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control at the hospital. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to patient care and hospital operations by ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform dusting at various levels, mopping, wiping, and scrubbing of surfaces throughout the hospital premises.
• Conduct thorough cleaning of hospital wards, side rooms, toilets, showers, infected zones, and public areas to ensure hygiene compliance.
• Manage rubbish bins by ensuring regular maintenance and timely disposal when full.
• Uphold hospital cleanliness standards by following established policies and procedures to keep all areas safe, clean, and presentable for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Operate cleaning equipment responsibly in line with role requirements and Health & Safety protocols.

Candidate Profile

• Exhibit passion for patient care with strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, their visitors, and healthcare professionals.
• Stay composed under pressure, capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team, demonstrating flexibility to meet business needs.
• Comfortable working in a hospital setting and handling situations involving patients who may be seriously ill or distressed.
• Previous experience as a Domestic Assistant is not essential; however, a strong work ethic, pride in one’s duties, eagerness to learn, and dedication to going beyond basic tasks for the benefit of patients are valued highly.

Additional Information

• Position pays £12.92 per hour for a 35-hour workweek.
• Appointment is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, with associated costs covered by the employer.
