Role Overview
The Dishwasher plays a key role as a General Utility team member within the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness and organization of kitchen workspaces, equipment, and utensils. This position also involves participation in food preparation activities and cross-training across various kitchen departments. It is suited for individuals looking to develop skills in business, leadership, and hospitality within a supportive family-oriented atmosphere.
Primary Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food residue from dishes and load them into the dishwashing machine (approx. 50% of the time).
- Wash pots, pans, and trays manually and via machine methods (15%).
- Carry out assigned food preparation tasks (10%).
- Dispose of trash and waste by transporting it to the dumpster area (10%).
- Clean work tables, walls, refrigeration units, cooking equipment, and floors (5%).
- Sanitize garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle the dishwashing machine (5%).
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Enthusiasm to care for others, eagerness to learn, and a positive outlook.
- Capable of lifting and carrying cases weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
- Ability to place items on shelves at varying heights.
- Comfortable working predominantly indoors (90%) with some outdoor tasks (10%), often in hot and humid conditions.
- Preparedness to act promptly in emergency situations to maintain safety.
- Common physical demands include navigating the restaurant, manual handling of items up to 25 pounds occasionally, bending, stooping, and sufficient vision to detect cleanliness and operate touchscreen equipment.
