Position Role and Purpose
The Dishwasher/General Utility team member plays a vital role ensuring cleanliness and order in the kitchen and food preparation areas. Responsibilities extend beyond dishwashing to include various prep tasks and cross-training in multiple kitchen roles. The aim is to serve with care and coordination, enhancing guest experience through effective and sanitary operations.
Primary Duties
- Remove and pre-rinse food residue from dishes before loading them into the dishwashing machine (approximately 50% of role).
- Hand and machine wash pots, pans, and trays (around 15% of tasks).
- Undertake assigned food preparation tasks (about 10%).
- Manage waste by transporting trash and garbage to designated dumpster areas (10%).
- Clean kitchen surfaces including work tables, walls, refrigeration and cooking equipment, and floors (5%).
- Sanitize garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle the dishwashing machine daily (5%).
Qualifications and Expectations
- Motivation to care for others and eagerness to grow and learn.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Capability to move cases weighing up to 50 pounds, up to 20 times daily.
- Physical ability to handle placing items such as plates and utensils on shelves at various heights.
- Predominantly indoor work environment (90%) with occasional outdoor duties (10%).
- Comfort working in hot and moist settings regularly.
- Ability to act promptly in emergency situations to protect oneself and others.
Physical Demands
This role requires regular movement throughout the establishment and interaction with guests. Employees must be able to lift and maneuver items up to 25 pounds and handle smaller objects frequently. Bending, stooping, and maintaining good vision for cleanliness inspection and touchscreen operation are essential. Reasonable accommodations may be available for individuals with disabilities.
