Job description

Position Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and client-oriented Disability Claims Administrator to join our teams in Regina, Saskatchewan or Langley, British Columbia. This full-time hybrid role allows you to work remotely with an expectation to be onsite two days per week to effectively collaborate with colleagues and support clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Complete initial financial details for new claims, including benefit calculations and reserve setups.
  • Calculate and process both short-term and long-term disability benefit payments.
  • Conduct straightforward long-term disability (LTD) calculations incorporating elements such as inflation, living cost adjustments, rehabilitation benefits, and partial period computations per contract specifications.
  • Address overpayment or underpayment cases, initiate repayment follow-ups, process benefit refunds and adjustments.
  • Communicate and clarify benefit payment calculations and taxation matters to clients through phone or written communication.
  • Manage follow-ups related to Canada Pension Plan (CPP) claims.
  • Maintain long-term disability cases by requesting and reviewing medical updates, verifying income details, and ensuring compliance with contractual standards.
  • Perform various administrative and financial support tasks for claims teams.
  • Resolve system inconsistencies by verifying data and managing exception reports.

Candidate Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a finance-related discipline or comparable practical experience.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective organizational skills with proficient time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with eagerness to learn sector-specific software.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must obtain Reliability Status Security Clearance post-offer, necessary for accessing Protected B information as per Government of Canada standards; Canada Life will cover associated processing costs.

Compensation Details

The annual base salary for this role ranges from $41,200 to $58,600. This figure represents base pay and excludes variable components like bonuses or commissions. Further details about total compensation will be shared during recruitment.
