Job description
Role Overview
At Google Legal, we address complex legal challenges arising at the intersection of law and new technology, aiming to pioneer innovative approaches for the digital age. As Director of Regulatory Affairs in Content Advisory, you will lead regulatory engagement efforts and ensure compliance with evolving content, AI, and consumer protection laws across the EMEA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead EMEA-wide engagements with relevant regulators and coordinate cross-regionally to achieve alignment on regulatory issues.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to interpret applicable laws and translate them into compliant product design initiatives spanning content, artificial intelligence, and consumer protection regulations.
- Offer legal counsel and subject matter expertise to diverse legal and non-legal teams, reviewing product proposals and advising on risks that may emerge during deployment.
- Shape and grow a high performing team structure fostering trusted relationships within Alphabet and provide regulatory risk assessment support for product launches and commercial agreements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree, equivalent academic credential, or commensurate practical legal experience.
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in legal, compliance, and regulatory risk management within the technology sector.
- At least 15 years engaged with European regulatory bodies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience leading projects, growing teams, and collaborating effectively across functions.
- Established track record of building relationships with senior internal stakeholders and external regulators in critical risk areas.
- Demonstrated ability to design, evaluate, and maintain compliance programs aligned with legal, regulatory, and external commitments.
- Previous management of regional teams and subordinate managers.
- Strong familiarity with technology companies and the capacity to grasp complex technical subjects.
- Excellent communication, time management, analytical thinking, investigative aptitude, attention to detail, and action-driven mindset.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary and incentives vary by location and individual factors such as skill and experience. For instance, in Belgium, the remuneration package ranges between €272,000 to €278,000 annually plus a 30% performance bonus, equity options, and additional benefits; in France, the package ranges from €228,000 to €233,000 with similar bonus and benefits.
