Role Overview

The Director of Portfolio Management will spearhead the development of a comprehensive portfolio management practice across DHL Express IT. This role ensures robust governance, visibility, decision-making processes, tools, and organizational capabilities are in place to manage IT investments and changes as an integrated enterprise portfolio. The position supports senior leaders by providing insights to prioritize initiatives by business value and manages the lifecycle of IT changes from conception through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the target portfolio management capabilities and roadmap for DHL Express IT.
• Integrate strategy, investment decision-making, governance, data, methods, tools, roles, and cultural behaviors into a unified enterprise portfolio management framework.
• Establish comprehensive visibility over IT and change portfolios, tracking initiatives from ideation to value delivery.
• Develop and present decision-support dashboards and portfolio reviews enabling senior management to balance fit, value, capacity, dependencies, and risk.
• Lead cross-functional prioritization forums aligning resources with strategic objectives.
• Enforce governance standards to ensure all IT projects and products align with business strategy and compliance requirements.
• Support executive-level decisions through structured portfolio reviews and scenario planning.
• Build and lead the Express IT PMO community to foster collaboration, skills development, and enhancement of portfolio management practices.
• Act as a mentor and thought leader for PMO professionals within the organization.
• Oversee portfolio management tools and platforms; define and evolve related standards, templates, and methodologies.
• Design and deliver training programs on portfolio management techniques and tools.
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to portfolio management stakeholders to ensure adoption and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Change, Strategy, IT, Engineering, Finance, Project Management, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Professional credentials in management consulting, portfolio management, project management, or agile delivery advantageous, such as MoP®, PMI PfMP®, PMI PMP®, PRINCE2®, SAFe®, ITIL®.
• Approximately 10 years of progressive experience in portfolio management, program management, or enterprise PMO leadership within complex matrix organizations.
• At least 5 years in senior or consulting leadership roles involving team leadership, executive stakeholder engagement, and ownership of portfolio management tools and methodologies.
• Proven track record implementing or enhancing portfolio management frameworks and leading communities of practice or capability building initiatives.
• Experience managing enterprise PMO and related tools, for example, Planview and Jira.
• Strong command of English with excellent executive communication, storytelling, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills.
