Role Overview

The Principal Solution Architect is tasked with designing and deploying comprehensive solution architectures for one or more sub-domain systems within DHL Express. This role demands alignment of solutions with business goals and the Express IT Target Architecture, prioritizing cost-effective, streamlined IT environments. The architect collaborates with internal IT teams throughout projects, supervises vendor architect contributions, communicates architectural approaches to stakeholders, and ensures adherence to governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop solution architectures for systems within designated sub-domains.
• Define architectures that meet project/program business requirements, conforming to Express IT and security standards.
• Implement solutions that minimize IT complexity through economical design choices.
• Guide architecture execution alongside project IT teams from inception to deployment phases including design, testing, and technology selection.
• Manage and coordinate vendor architects effectively.
• Validate that all project outputs align with architectural specifications, including authoring Solution Architecture Statements and System Requirement Statements.
• Review and approve detailed design, testing, and deployment documentation.
• Promote reuse of existing assets to maximize project benefits.
• Present and clarify solution architectures to project stakeholders, assisting IT teams during implementation.
• Ensure compliance with governance procedures, including architecture and security checkpoints.
• Align solution architecture with domain architecture under the Domain Architect’s guidance.
• Collaborate with the Head of Enterprise Architecture for cross-domain alignment and integration with the Express IT Target Architecture.
• Provide feedback to Enterprise Architecture concerning best practices and operational constraints related to IT standards and solution design.

Candidate Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of diverse IT experience, with a minimum of 5 years focusing on architecture roles in large, high-volume organizations.
• Familiarity with AI tools, understanding their functionalities and limits.
• Hands-on development experience within teams delivering high-quality system specifications, configurations, interfaces, and data/performance analyses.
• Expertise in Integration Architecture, including B2C and B2B frameworks.
• Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) components such as Event Management, Business Process Management, Business Rules Engines, Complex Event Processing, and Mobile Technologies.
• Exposure to the logistics or transportation industry is advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation capabilities.
• Experience in managing complex, large-scale projects.
• Knowledge of advanced technologies like machine learning, data mining, text mining, deep learning, and natural language processing is a plus.
• Possession of architecture certifications from recognized information systems professional bodies is preferred.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Strong skills in communication, teamwork, and problem resolution.
