About the Role

An established international retail brand is building a Tax Centre of Excellence aimed at supporting business expansion and adapting to the complex digital and global tax landscape. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the role offers an exciting chance for a driven corporate tax specialist to broaden their expertise in tax, business, and technology. The position involves acting as a trusted consultant to senior management, steering future tax automation and governance initiatives, and working cross-functionally with finance, legal, and IT teams to optimize the organization for the digital future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the direct tax and transfer pricing compliance processes including country-by-country reporting and necessary filings.
  • Lead the responsibilities related to Pillar Two reporting and associated documentation.
  • Manage and enhance transfer pricing strategies, documentation, and guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of international legislative developments, analyzing their potential impacts on the global business.
  • Deliver solid tax advisory services and nurture strong relationships with internal departments and external partners.
  • Champion ongoing tax automation efforts by identifying requirements for digital reporting and system/process enhancements.
  • Create leadership reporting and forecasting tools to improve efficiency and strategic outcomes.

Detailed Duties

  • Prepare and scrutinize corporate tax returns and other mandated filings.
  • Ensure compliance with tax governance standards and maintain requisite documentation.
  • Develop tax requirement documents related to business operations or legislative changes and manage projects through to completion.
  • Collaborate with the Indirect Tax team to ensure accurate reconciliation and audit readiness in line with digital tax rules.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to verify calculations and filing accuracy.
  • Work with data and IT teams to design automated reporting systems for Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing by clearly communicating configuration needs.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of personnel, procedures, and technology in fulfilling tax responsibilities.
  • Regularly brief the Head of Department on legislative and case law updates.
  • Assist the Head of Tax in delivering governance and guidance to finance teams regarding direct tax and transfer pricing duties.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Fully qualified with AITI, CTA or a comparable international tax qualification.
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience exclusively in Corporate Tax.
  • Proficient in Transfer Pricing rules, methodologies, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining intricate tax matters to audiences without tax expertise.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment focused on collective achievement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital tax legislation or engaging in tax automation and technology implementation projects.
  • Familiarity with Pillar Two reporting standards.
  • Background in international corporate tax within multinational corporations or large enterprises.
  • Demonstrable experience in crafting tax governance documentation.
