About the Role

Help at Home is currently seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. This position involves supporting clients to live independently, with dignity and respect, while enhancing their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
  • Encourage and support participation in community and social activities such as shopping and events.
  • Help clients work toward and achieve personal goals, recognizing and celebrating their progress.
  • Promote autonomy through choice-making, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Document care routines, activities, and progress accurately.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality support services.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Pass required background screening and complete necessary training.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
  • Demonstrate ability to work safely and respectfully within clients’ homes and community settings.
  • Exhibit compassion, dependability, and commitment to positively impacting clients’ lives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism.
  • Familiarity with implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
  • Knowledge of behavior-support techniques such as redirection, visual prompting, and modifying environments.
