Job description

Overview

The Digital Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the comprehensive architecture and governance of smart-city digital solutions deployed on a platform environment. This role ensures solution designs from various vendors conform to the platform’s reference architectures, cloud-neutral standards, security and compliance requirements, as well as the platform's service offerings. The architect converts business requirements into concrete solution blueprints, oversees integration with the platform’s shared services—including identity management, observability, data handling, and APIs—and supports delivery via design reviews, implementation oversight, and operational preparedness. A key aspect of the role involves creating scalable and reusable architectural patterns for consistent onboarding and deployment processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields; a Master’s degree is highly advantageous.
  • Have over 10 years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture within large-scale digital platforms, with preference given to backgrounds in smart-city, government, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrable experience in implementing cloud and hybrid environments utilizing Kubernetes, APIs, identity services, and observability tools.
  • Proven involvement in governance activities such as Design Authority functions, architecture boards, and managing standards and deviations.
  • Experience collaborating with Systems Integrators (SIs) and vendors under RFPs or contractual frameworks and managing acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF/ADM or comparable architecture frameworks, alongside experience in agile delivery methodologies at scale.

Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in end-to-end solution architecture encompassing applications, data, integrations, security, and operations.
  • Ability to govern and align multi-vendor project delivery to architectural standards while maintaining execution speed.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills to effectively communicate across business, engineering, security, and operational teams.
  • Strong capability in defining non-functional requirements, including availability, performance, resilience, scalability, and observability.
  • Proficient in structured documentation and decision-making processes such as Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), reference architectures, architectural patterns, and roadmaps.

Tools

  • Architecture modeling: ArchiMate, Sparx EA, Microsoft Visio, Draw.io.
  • API and integration management: OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, API gateways such as Apigee, Azure API Management, and Kong.
  • Governance and delivery tools: Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Git platforms (GitHub), Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Bicep.
