DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Role Overview

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to empower engineering teams in delivering and managing a secure, scalable SaaS platform hosted on Microsoft Azure. This position emphasizes automation, advancing CI/CD practices, ensuring infrastructure consistency, and maintaining production reliability. The role is centered on enabling delivery and operational efficiency rather than performing manual release management.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and refine CI/CD pipelines tailored for microservices, incorporating automated testing, guarded promotions, and rollback mechanisms for safety.
• Automate and standardize deployment patterns for containerized applications, guaranteeing that environments are version-controlled, reproducible, and consistent.
• Design and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools with disciplined peer reviews and traceability to eliminate configuration drift.
• Minimize manual processes by applying automation and engineering solutions.
• Enhance system scalability, reliability, failover, retry strategies, and resilience throughout services.
• Assist in defining and monitoring service-level objectives, contributing to systematic incident response and continuous improvement after incidents.
• Bolster observability by improving logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alert systems for effective diagnostics in production environments.
• Integrate security measures within CI/CD pipelines, including automatic security scanning and secure dependency management.
• Advance secrets management practices, automate certificate lifecycle, and implement secure container protocols.
• Increase transparency in Azure cost management through right-sizing, scaling policies, and lifecycle management to curb resource wastage.
• Drive automation of operational workflows in event-driven and distributed system contexts.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience managing production workloads on Microsoft Azure within cloud-native settings.
• Established expertise in designing and executing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code technologies such as ARM or Bicep, utilizing Git-based workflows and enforcing peer-reviewed changes.
• Experience with container technologies like Docker, and familiarity with orchestration tools (Kubernetes is a plus).
• Hands-on knowledge of observability frameworks including Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or OpenTelemetry.
• Comprehensive understanding of reliability engineering concepts, structured incident management, and resilience design patterns.
• Strong networking background covering private networks, TLS, and ingress/egress controls.
• Exposure to secrets management tools like Azure Key Vault and solid comprehension of identity access control mechanisms.
• Competent in scripting and automation with PowerShell and Bash; Python skills are desirable.
• Comfortable working with event-driven architectures, such as those based on Azure Service Bus.
• Bonus: experience with internal developer platform construction, policy-as-code or compliance automation, and operating isolated SaaS environments.
