Role Summary

The role of Cloud and DevOps Engineer involves designing, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that support mobile and web application delivery. The engineer will work alongside developers, technical leads, and project managers to establish and oversee AWS environments, improve build and release workflows, ensure infrastructure security and compliance, and drive process automation and advancements related to deployment, system monitoring, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline to automate building, testing, and deploying applications across different environments.
• Provision and control AWS infrastructure components including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, and CloudFront through infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure by leveraging tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Handle container technologies and orchestration via Docker and Kubernetes or Amazon ECS/EKS for application workload management.
• Implement and sustain monitoring, logging, and alert systems utilizing CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK stack to guarantee the availability and performance of systems.
• Enforce security measures across infrastructure and pipeline management including access controls, secret management, patching updates, and vulnerability fixes.
• Coordinate release management efforts by collaborating with development and project teams to plan deployments and rollbacks.
• Optimize cloud resource usage and costs while managing environments efficiently.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployment processes, and environment stability across development, staging, and production settings.
• Document architectural designs, pipeline configurations, operational procedures, and runbooks to ensure clarity and maintainability.
• Participate in compliance auditing and security assessments, particularly for public-sector requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive practical knowledge of AWS cloud services encompassing compute, storage, networking, database management, and identity/access management.
• Demonstrated ability to create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines in team delivery contexts using platforms like GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience managing containerized applications through Docker and orchestrators like Kubernetes or Amazon ECS/EKS.
• Capabilities in scripting languages like Bash or Python for automation tasks.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions such as AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK stack.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, and security principles.
• Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git, with knowledge of branching strategies.
• Experience supporting web and mobile application stacks, notably Node.js and ReactJS, is a plus.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields is mandatory.
• Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD), and Terraform certification.

Experience Requirements

• Between 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps or cloud infrastructure roles, mainly with AWS platforms.
• Proven track record operating CI/CD pipelines in collaborative delivery team environments.
• Direct experience with infrastructure automation and container-based deployment strategies.
