Detection & Response Security Engineer - Threat Intelligence

Role Overview

Meta Security is seeking an experienced investigator specialized in threat intelligence to address cyber threats with a proactive intelligence-driven methodology. The position focuses on timely response to diverse security threats and tracking of threat actor groups that may target Meta's infrastructure and personnel. The candidate will be responsible for identifying deficiencies in current detection systems through ongoing intelligence analysis and collaborating with various teams to strengthen Meta's security measures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze threat clusters endangering Meta's systems and workforce, developing and deploying effective countermeasures for corporate networks.
• Conduct investigations on emerging technical threats, assess trends, and provide clear, actionable insights to diverse audiences.
• Partner closely with incident response teams to supply relevant intelligence that supports active investigations.
• Enhance tools used for tracking threat clusters and integrate intelligence data into existing security platforms.
• Contribute actively to cross-department collaborations aimed at improving overall security posture, including activities like red team operations, expanding detection scopes, and discussing vulnerability management.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years professional experience in threat intelligence.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in campaign tracking methods, with the ability to convert findings into sustainable defense mechanisms.
• Strong knowledge of threat modeling frameworks, such as the Diamond Model and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Experience with intelligence-driven threat hunting to detect suspicious network behavior and assess risks.
• Proven capability to lead and complete both short-term and long-term projects.
• Comfortable working with global teams across multiple time zones.
• Self-directed with excellent prioritization and task execution skills.
• Critical thinking aptitude paired with effective communication skills.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or PHP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of malware or network traffic analysis techniques.
• Experience developing production-level code for threat intelligence tools.
• Expertise in large-scale data analysis.
• Familiarity with query languages, including SQL.
• Ongoing development of AI-related skills, such as prompt engineering and agent orchestration.
• Ability to integrate AI technologies to enhance and streamline workflows, creating measurable benefits.
• Engagement with the wider security community.
• Commitment to ethical AI practice with experience in risk management and bias mitigation.
• Skills in creating detection rules and signatures like YARA or Snort for complex threat tracking.
• Experience coordinating closely with incident responders during investigations.
• Understanding of sophisticated threats including nation-state actors, organized crime, and supply chain risks.
