Role Overview

We are recruiting a Despatch Coordinator for afternoon operations to ensure freight is moved safely, punctually, and efficiently. The role involves close communication with drivers, clients, dispatch, and site teams to manage bookings, assign tasks, track deliveries, address enquiries, and uphold Chain of Responsibility compliance. The position suits organised professionals who thrive under pressure, working Monday to Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily afternoon transport and driver activities coordination.
  • Serve as primary contact for drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Handle transport enquiries, escalate issues, and resolve service problems.
  • Track delivery statuses and share operational updates.
  • Complete end-of-day procedures including communications and incident reporting.
  • Maintain operational data and customer records using CRM and transport software.

Candidate Profile

  • Maintain rigorous safety standards aligned with company policies.
  • Prioritise tasks and make decisive choices in a dynamic setting.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, and site personnel.
  • Demonstrate proactive self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of Chain of Responsibility regulations and adherence.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Effective administrative skills and proficient with Microsoft Office including basic Excel.
  • Capability to adjust working hours occasionally to meet operational needs.
