Demand Planner

Position Overview

Join Air New Zealand as a Demand Planner and play a key role in ensuring timely availability of materials critical to aircraft maintenance, thus maximizing fleet readiness. Utilize your analytical skills to transform complex datasets into actionable insights and improve planning processes to deliver notable operational results. This role is based in Christchurch within the Aircraft Availability Tribe, a dynamic and collaborative group focused on maintaining fleet safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop precise material demand forecasts aligned with aircraft maintenance needs and fleet availability goals.
• Convert maintenance schedules, fleet usage patterns, historical consumption data, and anticipated operational demands into forward-looking demand plans by applying statistical forecasting methods.
• Collaborate closely with Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Production, and Supply Planning teams to identify and proactively address material risks.
• Analyze forecast accuracy, demand patterns, inventory performance, and material accessibility to refine planning outputs and bolster aircraft availability.
• Provide specialized demand planning expertise within the Aircraft Availability Tribe and across Supply Chain functions to embed optimal forecasting practices.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives leveraging advanced forecasting, automation, analytics, and data-centric planning approaches.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Background in demand planning, forecasting, supply or inventory planning, preferably within aviation, engineering, maintenance, or similarly complex operational sectors.
• Solid grasp of forecasting and demand planning methodologies, adaptable to intermittent, fluctuating, and event-driven demand contexts.
• Strong analytical capabilities for interpreting multifaceted data and converting findings into effective planning decisions.
• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain dynamics, particularly the interplay between demand, inventory levels, material availability, lead times, and operational metrics.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to foster teamwork with technical, operational, and supply chain stakeholders.
• A forward-thinking, continuous improvement orientation; familiarity with ERP or MRP systems, forecasting tools, data visualization, or analytics software is an advantage.
