Overview

We seek a passionate Database Site Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic Database team operating within an accelerated, technology-focused financial setting. This role is well-suited for either an outstanding graduate with a robust technical foundation or an early-career engineer aiming to gain specialized knowledge in database engineering.

Role Expectations

The ideal candidate is technically inquisitive, adapts rapidly, enjoys dissecting complex system interactions, and is especially interested in leveraging AI, automation, and modern engineering methodologies to transform database operations.

AI and Automation Responsibilities

Initially, a major aspect of this role involves investigating how AI can be embedded into our daily engineering workflow. The role includes identifying and developing actionable AI applications such as:

  • AI-powered diagnosis of database and application performance problems
  • Evaluation of execution plans, SQL queries, and database telemetry data
  • Automation of operational investigations and routine database tasks
  • Creation of internal tools and agents supporting database operations
  • Enhancement of monitoring, alerting systems, and incident analysis
  • Transforming operational documentation into effective AI-driven tools
  • Utilizing AI to expedite scripting, engineering development, and problem resolution

The focus is on practical AI usage that enhances engineer efficiency, streamlines workflows, and boosts system reliability.

Database Engineering Duties

Alongside AI initiatives, you will develop profound expertise managing a vast, well-established infrastructure that supports critical financial systems. Progression in this role includes mastering:

  • Database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • SQL and PL/SQL performance analysis and optimization
  • Monitoring database health, capacity management, and ensuring reliability
  • Implementing backups, recovery procedures, and disaster preparedness
  • Working with Linux and scripting for operational tasks
  • Performing database upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
  • Automating repetitive operational workflows
  • Analyzing database performance and operational telemetry
  • Collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to resolve complex production issues

Candidate Profile
