Position Overview
The Data Scientist position resides within the Asia Intelligence team, a pragmatic and product-focused group dedicated to delivering impactful AI and data solutions. The role emphasizes creating real value through deployed machine learning models rather than theoretical experimentation. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and various stakeholders across Ubisoft to design, build, and continuously improve AI solutions that are actively used by players.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain machine learning models and AI products that operate in production environments, delivering quantifiable benefits to both players and business metrics.
- Contribute to systems for personalization and decision-making, including recommendation engines, segmentation, propensity scoring, and Next Best Action strategies that enhance player retention and engagement.
- Assist in building AI agent architectures and automations to extend the team's ability to deploy intelligence at scale.
- Translate complex stakeholder requirements into practical, well-defined solutions that balance model sophistication with rapid delivery and operational sustainability.
- Work closely with data analysts, engineers, and product teams to ensure model integration, transparency, and actionable insights.
Milestones within First 6 Months
- Acquire comprehensive understanding of Ubisoft’s data infrastructure, player behavior data, and live operations across active game titles.
- Gain familiarity with existing machine learning models related to forecasting, propensity modeling, and player decisioning, contributing significantly to at least one.
- Expand the AI/ML program to cover additional player engagement scenarios and game franchises, enhancing personalization and player decisioning capabilities.
- Establish trusted collaborations with key stakeholders to align data science efforts with their needs.
Milestones within First Year
- Become a key contributor to the advancement of personalization and player engagement tools, including the Next Best Action engine and propensity modeling initiatives.
- Help define the roadmap for future AI product developments by identifying where machine learning and agent-based methods can provide near-term business value.
Qualifications
- Mandatory:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in applied Data Science or Machine Learning roles, with proven delivery of models or AI products into production.
- Demonstrated ability to produce measurable outcomes through practical ML applications that impact end users.
- Strong teamwork orientation, understanding that collaboration drives impactful results.
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills with the ability to appropriately scope work and prioritize rapid delivery over perfection.
- Excellent communication skills suited to interact with cross-functional teams including game designers, producers, analysts, and engineers.
- Preferred:
- Experience constructing personalization engines, recommendation systems, or frameworks supporting player decision-making.
- Familiarity with marketing decisioning platforms like Adobe Marketing Cloud, Salesforce, Pega, Braze, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing or contributing to AI agent architectures and agent-driven workflows.
- Interest in gaming, entertainment, or consumer digital products where user behavior analysis is integral.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Python, capable of writing production-level code beyond experimental notebooks.
- Strong command of SQL for data analysis, feature engineering, and pipeline construction.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks including scikit-learn, LightGBM, PyTorch, or Spark ML.
- Advanced skills in Databricks and/or Snowflake with operational experience deploying models within cloud data environments.
- Knowledge of version control systems such as git and familiarity with team development workflows.
- Desired Technical Extras:
- Experience with MLflow, Delta Lake, or equivalent tools for model monitoring and data governance in Databricks ecosystems.
- Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex or Databricks Genie for AI-supported analytics.
- Experience creating or integrating language model-based agents or tool-usage frameworks.
- Understanding of API development and hosting model-serving endpoints.
