Data Scientist

Position Overview

We are recruiting a skilled and driven Data Scientist to join our Group Actuarial team in Doha, Qatar. The role involves creating and implementing data-driven solutions through programming languages such as R, RShiny, Python, and SQL to comprehend and analyze complex datasets effectively.

Key technologies include utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and web scraping methods to extract and analyze unstructured information. Experience with cloud services, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, is essential for designing scalable data pipelines and environments.

The role also demands strong analytical skills leveraging mathematics, statistics, modern machine learning approaches, and optimization techniques. Candidates will handle complex databases by cleaning, transforming, managing, and visualizing data proficiently.

A significant part of the position is to develop user-friendly interfaces using Shiny or Dash, which allow users without technical backgrounds to interact with predictive models and analytics dashboards. Responsibilities include maintaining predictive analytics models, dashboards, automation scripts, and other data-driven tools for both technical teams and business users.

Remaining current with advances in data science, AI, and cloud technologies is expected to continually enhance data products. Familiarity with actuarial principles is advantageous but not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Possess an advanced university degree, preferably a Master’s, in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related disciplines.
• Have between three to five years of pertinent professional experience, with flexibility in experience requirements based on candidate profiles.
