Data Management Office Director

Position Overview

A Government Entity in Saudi Arabia is seeking a skilled leader to head their Data Management Office. This pivotal role entails driving the organization’s data management and governance strategies by developing frameworks, policies, and operational models that ensure data quality, compliance, and optimal data usage throughout the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the creation and execution of the organization’s Data Strategy and roadmap for the Data Management Office, aligning with organizational goals and national data regulations.
• Formulate and supervise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operational procedures across all departments.
• Lead initiatives focused on enhancing data quality, classification, protection, metadata management, and data lifecycle processes.
• Guide continuous refinement of policies and procedures governing data practices.
• Facilitate the effective leverage of data to support executive decisions, improve organizational performance, and advance strategic projects.
• Ensure adherence to national data management, governance, and data protection laws.
• Define clear models for data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across business units.
• Manage programs involving data sharing, open data, master data, reference data, and other domains of data management.
• Establish and track KPIs for the Data Management Office, including data maturity, compliance, and data quality metrics.
• Advocate for a data-driven culture and promote awareness of data governance and management within the organization.
• Recruit, lead, and mentor the Data Management Office team while ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, IT, or related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Extensive professional background in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality, including leadership or management roles.
• In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Strong familiarity with Saudi Arabia’s national regulations regarding data management, governance, and protection.
• Proven track record of leading strategic data initiatives and collaborating with senior leadership stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, strategic planning skills, stakeholder engagement, change management expertise, and proficiency in executive-level communication.
