Job description

Role Overview

The Data Governance Consultant role involves architecting and deploying comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and operational models across the entire organization. This position collaborates intimately with various stakeholders including business leaders, data owners, stewards, architects, and IT teams to establish data practices that are reliable, secure, compliant, and high in quality by leveraging Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog.

Key Duties

  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks, standards, and policies.
  • Define governance structures including decision-making rights, forums, and escalation procedures.
  • Identify and assign governance roles such as Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians, and Council members.
  • Create governance roadmaps aligned with business strategy and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the implementation and configuration of Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog, including metadata harvesting and lineage automation.
  • Configure business glossaries, metadata repositories, classifications, and workflows within CDGC.
  • Integrate CDGC with cloud and data platforms like Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, and SQL systems.
  • Establish metadata and business glossary management practices and approval workflows to enhance data discoverability and understanding.
  • Define critical data elements and data quality rules; oversee data quality KPIs and remediation processes in collaboration with business teams.
  • Drive the adoption of data stewardship programs across business areas.
  • Document complete data lineage and enforce governance for data classification and sensitive data handling.
  • Support audit, compliance, and regulatory reporting initiatives ensuring adherence to privacy and security protocols.
  • Facilitate governance workshops, stakeholder interviews, governance council meetings, and deliver governance reports to leadership.

Technical Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC), and related tools such as Informatica EDC, Axon, and Data Quality modules.
  • Strong expertise in metadata management, business glossary management, and data catalog implementations.
  • Understanding of data lineage, impact analysis, stewardship, quality frameworks, data classification, and sensitive data governance.
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms including Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Knowledge of governance operating models including RACI frameworks.

Consulting and Functional Skills

  • Capability to design Data Governance frameworks and operating models tailored to business needs.
  • Experience in governance process design, stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and requirements elicitation.
  • Skilled in conducting workshops and managing change associated with governance implementation.
  • Effective communication with executives and business stakeholders to present governance metrics and progress.
  • Ability to assess governance maturity and align initiatives with regulatory and compliance requirements.
