Data Engineering Team Leader

Job Purpose and Role

Act as the designated data owner representing the business division in the executive governance committee. Ensure that data stewardship aligns with the enterprise data management asset model and spearhead data-related projects at the division level while representing the bank's business units. Develop a thorough understanding of business division strategies and contribute actively to bank-wide data strategies, including enterprise data asset and information management strategies. Serve as the liaison connecting business divisions with other data management teams. Oversee the implementation of policies and standards related to data sources within the assigned division.

Areas of Responsibility

• Assist in the creation and enforcement of Data Stewardship policies, procedures, and controls covering all data sources.
• Manage daily operations to ensure that workflows are executed as intended, complying with established policies and procedures.
• Lead data stewardship efforts at the divisional level, acting as the primary contact for all data-related needs of the division's business units.
• Collaborate closely with business areas to integrate their needs and interests regarding data management.
• Represent assigned business units in data-related matters, including requirements gathering and provision of data.
• Serve as the bank division's representative on the Enterprise Data Governance Committee.
• Champion standardization and consistent perspectives surrounding business data.
• Educate business units on the critical role of data and information in driving organizational success.
• Manage relationships with data consumers to ensure their needs are met effectively.
• Provide direction and guidance to subordinates across all levels on fulfilling their roles as Enterprise Data Stewards.
• Lead the Enterprise Data Steward Unit by setting objectives, recruiting skilled personnel, managing team performance, fostering professional growth, and delivering feedback to optimize division performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Systems or Computer Science; a Master’s degree in MIS is preferred.
• Between 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in Data and Information Management within banking environments.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Strong understanding of the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Thorough awareness of banking regulations.
