Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to contribute to the advancement of enterprise Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Data Lakehouse projects. This full-time role is based in Sharjah, UAE, within the Data Management Office, requiring over 7 years of relevant experience. The key objective is to design, develop, and refine scalable data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and data products that facilitate business analytics, regulatory compliance reporting, and AI/ML-driven innovation.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines utilizing OCI Data Flow, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), and Oracle AI Data Platform (AIDP).
- Develop robust ETL and ELT processes to support enterprise-wide data integration and analytical needs.
- Manage Delta Lakehouse architectural layers including ingestion, curation, and consumption.
- Create and optimize analytical data models, data marts, and datasets within Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) to support reporting, operational analytics, and advanced AI/ML applications.
- Collaborate closely with business units such as Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Finance to convert requirements into scalable technical solutions and reusable data assets.
- Administer structured and unstructured data in OCI Object Storage along with lifecycle management, governance policies, and cost optimization strategies.
- Work alongside data architects to develop reusable, high-performance ingestion frameworks for new projects, ensuring embedded data quality, lineage, metadata management, and governance controls.
- Continuously improve platform scalability, reliability, and performance through tuning of SQL workloads, Spark jobs, ETL processes, and ADW instances.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data processing to resolve any performance issues proactively.
Required Skills and Experience
- Expert knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services including Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, OCI Object Storage, OCI Data Flow (Apache Spark), Oracle Data Integrator, and Oracle AI Data Platform.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python programming with strong capabilities in performance tuning and troubleshooting large-scale data systems.
- Experience in building modern data pipelines and cloud-native data platforms, especially on OCI.
- Thorough understanding of Delta Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture, data version control, and contemporary data engineering methodologies.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience with Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication and Change Data Capture (CDC).
- Knowledge of modern data governance, metadata management, and observability frameworks.
- Exposure to AI/ML oriented data preparation and feature engineering within enterprise lakehouse setups.
Domain Knowledge
Familiarity with insurance-related data domains such as Policy Administration, Claims Management, Underwriting, and Finance/Regulatory Reporting is advantageous but not mandatory.
