Role Overview
This position is based at our Hamilton, Kapua Data Centre and requires working in a rotating shift schedule including nights and days. As a 24x7 Data Centre Technician, you will execute a variety of remote hands and first-level support duties such as installation of customer equipment, cabling, and infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete and participate in the Data Centre training program.
- Support Batch Services by operating batch jobs, monitoring alerts, and escalating as needed.
- Deliver first-level support and hands-on services to Data Centre clients.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain and manage Data Centre assets diligently.
- Carry out customer-facing tasks while nurturing client relationships.
- Install and oversee Data Centre infrastructure including power systems, IT, telecom equipment, cabling, and server racks.
- Follow and document applicable standards for customer changes.
- Timely completion and communication of operational tasks assigned.
- Contribute to incident management within the Data Centre.
- Strict adherence to Datacom security protocols.
- Promote continuous improvement seeking operational efficiencies and innovations.
Candidate Profile
- Willingness to work flexible rotating shifts covering days and nights.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
- Competency in troubleshooting technical and client issues.
- Capability to remain composed under pressure.
- Comfortable working at heights up to 4 meters.
- Skillful in executing repetitive processes accurately and efficiently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous IT experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Eligible to work legally in New Zealand to meet security clearance requirements.
