Role Overview
The Data Center Shift Lead at CBRE Asia Pacific in Singapore is responsible for overseeing technical maintenance and repair activities within a large-scale data center environment. This role is critical to ensuring smooth operations in high-stakes client settings and forms part of the Critical and Technical Services function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of the technical team by planning work schedules, assigning tasks, and facilitating cross-training among staff members.
- Track department timelines and provide mentorship and coaching to team members as necessary.
- Continuously enhance preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance and safety manuals up to date and specific to each building.
- Coordinate maintenance activities involving external contractors, tenant personnel, and technical staff.
- Supervise all building systems, including fire and life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical, while staying informed of current technology trends.
- Maintain ongoing communication with tenants, clients, owners, facility management teams, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and address customer concerns effectively.
- Exemplify CBRE’s RISE values through leadership and influence to facilitate cooperation among stakeholders.
- Apply expertise within technical discipline and understand interdisciplinary integration to meet team and departmental objectives.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve routine and moderately complex system and process issues, even those not immediately apparent.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completed formal training or apprenticeship in a technical discipline; a Journeyman/Electrician or HVAC license is preferred where relevant licensure is required locally.
- Experience in leadership aspects such as staffing, hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation, and retention strategies is advantageous.
- Capability to handle sensitive and complex communications, set performance expectations, and address issues constructively.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the role.
- Competent in understanding procedures and standards to resolve moderately challenging problems.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate solutions based on technical knowledge and prior outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Highly organized with a proactive and inquisitive approach to work.
- Advanced mathematics skills, including the ability to perform complex calculations such as percentages, fractions, and financial computations.
